Eye icon does not highlight

We understand that you are experiencing an issue with the Yoast SEO plugin in that the highlight feature is not working as expected when using Elementor. We are aware of this issue with Yoast SEO and there is currently an issue report open with our developers here: https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/12459. Whereas we are unable to provide an ETA as to when this will be resolved, you can monitor the issue report page for updates on it’s resolution.

Unfortunately, the eye marker feature is only available in the default Visual editor. If you’re using the WordPress native content editor, please make sure that you’re using the Visual mode instead of using the Text mode to make sure that the Yoast SEO eye marker feature can highlight the specific parts of your content. In some cases, you may need to update the content or refresh the page to be able to activate the eye marker.

I’m having the same issue, so it does not appear to be resolved. I’m using the latest versions of WordPress and Yoast, and I’m in Visual Editor Mode, but nothing gets highlighted when trying to use the Eye icon.

I figured out my own problem. In the new editor, you have to select the “convert to blocks” option before highlighting will work properly. It looks like it was an issue with the way I copied the text in from my editing tools.
