Update 5.3 has caused my site to crash

    Hello. I am trying not to panic but when I updated to WordPress 5.3 my site crashed and now when I try to log in I only get a screen with a list of warnings.

    For example:

    I have moderate tech skills and zero skills with coding so am feeling very much out of my depth. I really don’t know where to start. I have read the forums but none of them seem to fit my problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    This appears to be a problem with the ocean extra plugin.

    Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    This appears to be a known issue with the Oceans Extra plugin, you’ll find a recommendation at https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/5-3-throws-an-error/#post-12124813 until the plugin’s developer can release a fix.

    Thank you so much @tellyworth. I followed your instructions and at least now have my site up again although it does not look as it did. It is the ocean extra plugin that is the problem. Not sure how to go about resolving this but will look into it. Again thank you for taking the time to help me out. I really appreciate it. Regards Michele

    This has been fixed in Ocean Extra 1.5.19, released today.
