Caused website to crash on the WordPress 5.3 update. I’m positive Hummingbird will fix this eventually.

    see this thread

    EDIT:
Support has been awesome and I am changing my review to 5 star. The issue was not caused from Hummingbird, we discovered.

Hummingbird has been great. The reason for the 3 was because of the alleged crash when updating WordPress. Yes, absolutely for anyone reading this, a 5 star!

It has been great for us.

  • Hi @mikevendia,

I’m sorry that you experienced issues with WordPress 5.3 update. As I wrote in the linked thread it’s not related to Hummingbird. The error states that there are no core Hummingbird files. You need to contact your host support and ask what happened to the files. To fix the issue, you can reinstall Hummingbird, or remove the advanced-cache.php file.

    Best regards,
    Anton

    Hi @vanyukov

I have since completely deleted all Hummingbird files. That might be why you are not seeing any core files.

I will reinstall Hummingbird and re-test. Thanks for your help.

@mikevendia, what I meant was your original error happened because certain plugin core files were missing. A similar issue has been reported for other caching plugins. For example, with WP Super Cache: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/errors-after-wp-update-to-5-3/

I am not yet sure why the WordPress 5.3 update does this or if it’s limited to specific hosts, or maybe a failed auto-update. At the moment, the recommended fix is to reinstall Hummingbird to get the missing files back.

    Best regards,
    Anton

Gotcha. Understood. Thank you! I am hosting on Siteground if that helps you all track anything down.

I will reinstall and continue with Hummingbird for clients sites.

    Thank you for the information!

    Best regards,

    Hi @mikevendia,

Just a follow-up – you’ve left 3* for Hummingbird. I wanted to know if there is anything that we can improve or adjust to make Hummingbird a 5* plugin for you?

    Best regards,
    Anton

    @mikevendia,

If it’s not too much trouble, I would really appreciate if you could add this to your review or even adjust the rating. Unfortunately, not everyone reads through the comments.

    Best regards,
    Anton
