Multisite bulk optimizations

    Hello!
    We have a multisite installation and we are facing an issue…
    On the multisite bulk optimization setting, we set to resize images as 1920×1280, which is ok… in this way any subsite that tries to upload a bigger image, it will be limited to the previous setting. So this main setting applies to any existing subsite and any subsite to be created.
    Then, on the settings tab, we set to NONE to the subsite controls. This means that any subsite is not allowed to do any change on Smush…
    Our question is, how to enable the subsites JUST to be able to bulk optimize older images (the ones uploaded before installing Smush)?
    Our intention is to set a maximum upload size on a multisite level that applies for all subsites, but we also want to bulk optimize previously uploaded images from subsites… but we cant find the option to do so…
    We only found the way to bulk optimize images when we allow subsites to have control of Smush setting, but we just want to bulk optimize every subsite images without changing the resizing option.
    Kindly tell us how to do?

    Hey there @djwilko12

    In this case, so subsites admins can bulk smush previously uploaded images, you will need to set the subsite controls to ALL or Custom to select if some of the subsites will be able to do that.

    After that, the admins of the selected subsites will be able to bulk smush previously uploaded images.

    But if i do what you said (to set the subsite controls to ALL or Custom to select if some of the subsites will be able to do that), i will lose the capability of setting max heith and width for all images at a multisite level. This means every subsite will respect that dimensions without needing to adjust the dimensions for every subsite individually.

    As we manage many subsites, it takes lot of time to setup each subsite’s max heith and width… so we would like to continue setting the max dimensions on a multisite level, and then, still be able to bulk optimize previously uploaded images on a subsite level. Is that possible? If not right now, would you consider it this feature?? Is really useful.

    I’m afraid this is not possible because Resizing images is part of the Bulk Smush feature.

    I will send a message to the Smush team about your case so they can check it and discuss it further.
