    Hi!
I have a problem with my site. Recently I updated WordPress to ver. 5.3 and PHP to 7.3, and all plugins and also theme, but everything was working flawlessly for several days after all this updates. Yesterday I tried to log into dashboard and I see… nothing. Completely blank page. Login.php site seems ok and website for viewers is completely ok and functional. I was seeking solutions, but nothing worked for me.
STRIKED TEXT EXPLANATION: after clearing cache in my browser when I want to log in I get information that cookies are blocked.
I tried BEFORE clearing browse cache:
    – Debugging: it showed some problems with deprecated plugins, but after disabling them manually through FTP the admin page didn’t appear.
    – Turning off all plugins and themes: did that by FTP, it didn’t worked.
    – Downgrading PHP to 7.1 and 7.2: nothing’s changed.
    – Manually upgrading (copying wp-admin and wp-include and loose files): I didn’t see any change, but I might do some mistakes here.
    – Did a lot of research and no solution so far has worked.

I have full backup of my site, but it has to keep working, so I don’t want to fully restore it. Moreover, my ftp client has some problems with sending large portion of files to the server. Another site on the same hosting works great after similar upgrades. All help appreciate. Thank you.

  • Hi @giantdad,

It’s possible that when your site was updating to the latest version WP 5.3. some files were not uploaded successfully, it happens sometimes when the server has a short limited time for uploading files.

I’d suggest you to update the site again, but to increase the PHP upload time first, here’s an article about it:

Hope it helps, let us know! ??

I cannot increase those times/sizes. It’s already at max values.

Okay, I updated it once again manually to 5.3, but with no effect. All I get is the message “Cookies are blocked”. What to do now? I don’t have SSL certificate and I can’t use certbot.

Okay, I found where the problem was. wp-config used UTF-8. I had to changed that to UTF-8 without BOM. After doing this, I could finally log into dashboard of my site. I was 100% sure this file was right, but I overwrote it in Friday. So it was my bad. Case closed.
