• Sorry, but putting up such an ad (1012 x 100 pixels !) on my dashboard is unacceptable for me. And the coice of colors? A tasteless combination of a yellow banner on a cyan background, just to be as distracting as possible. And to top it off it is also shown to non-admins, which wouldn’t even be able to do an upgrade.

I must admit, strictly speaking this is not against the ruels, as they only encourage not to do this:

“Advertising within the WordPress dashboard should be avoided, as it is generally ineffective. Users normally only visit settings pages when they’re trying to solve a problem. Making it harder to use a plugin does not generally encourage a good review, and we recommend limiting any ads placed therein.”

Still I am very disappointed and now I guess I have enough reason to switch.

  • Hi @jhoffmann,

    Thanks for your comment.

We understand that the Black Friday banner was annoying. Although it was dismissable, it was a bit buggy so last Thursday we released Yoast SEO v12.6.2 which completely removes the banner from the admin panel. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. You can also find our public apologies on social media through this link.

We appreciate your taking the time to send your feedback.
