Why on Earth would you setup an order log that lists orders but NOT in order from most recent to last?

Hey there! The default way that WooCommerce displays orders is indeed from newest to last. If you’re seeing something different, I think something may be off. When looking at the table of orders, at the top you will see the table headers – ‘Order’, ‘Date’, and so on.

What happens when you click on the ‘Date’ header? That should reorder your orders to newest-oldest. If it’s sorting from oldest to newest, you’ll want to click ‘Date’ one more time.

Here’s a screenshot to illustrate what I’m talking about: https://snipboard.io/ZmASY8.jpg

I can resort but the issue is I want it to sort correctly by default so I don’t have to play that game. I’ve seen other installations that do this correct but I can’t find where there might be a setting change. I do have a custom function for product order but I wouldn’t think that should effect the order of the orders. Same theme on both installations.

    Hey again!

Unless there’s a plugin or custom function that deals with this, I think it’s likely that the ‘Date’ link was clicked by accident (that’s happened to me a few times ˉ\_(ツ)_/ˉ ).

If you want to make sure there’s no plugin or bit of code getting in the way, here’s what you can do:

    1. Temporarily switch your theme back to the Storefront theme (it’s free)
    2. Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
    3. Test to see if the issue has been resolved.
    4. If that resolves the issue, then slowly re-enable features until you find the one that’s causing the conflict.

This is best done on a staging site. That’s a copy of your live site, so you can test things out without making changes to your actual site. Some hosting companies offer a staging site service within their hosting plans. If yours does not, there is a great free plugin that will allow you to build a complete staging site with a few button clicks: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-staging.

Its a live site. I told someone else the other day that I don’t have time to trouble shoot your plugin unless you want to pay me for my time. When I have time I do dig out errors but I don’t have time now.

    @graftedin,

As mentioned, WooCommerce sorts orders starting from most recent by default. Something may be changed on your own site to create this behavior.

If it’s not sorted by date, how is it sorted? Can you send along a screenshot of the Orders page overview?

    Hey @graftedin

Just checking-in on this for you.

Can you share more on how the orders are sorted for your site? If possible, can you send along a screenshot of the orders page overview? This would help us in understanding this better and in proposing a solution.

    Thanks!

Sorry, I’ve been slow to respond. When I went back it was working right. Maybe it got cached in the browser some how but that really shouldn’t have been the case.

Hi again @graftedin! I’m glad to hear things are working now. I’ll go ahead and set this topic to ‘resolved’. Do feel free to open a new topic if you need further help in the future!
