We’re seeing an issue with Yoast versions 12.6, 12.6.1 and 12.6.2 on all sites we’ve updated in the past few days.

The Yoast SEO area on a page/post in WordPress does not load.

The browser console shows the following errors:

Uncaught TypeError: Failed to construct 'URL': Invalid URL - (analysis-1260.min.js?ver=12.6:21)

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot set property 'innerHTML' of null at d.renderIndividualRatings (analysis-1260.min.js?ver=12.6:21)

I’ve disabled all plugins except for Yoast and I’ve switched to the Twenty Twenty theme and the issue persists.

The error shows up for both the Gutenberg editor and with the Classic editor enabled. With the Classic editor enabled, we can’t see any content under the SEO, Readability and Social tabs to make any edits. Within the Gutenberg editor, we can at least see the content but there are loading icons next to each tab that don’t ever stop (e.g. the happy or sad score icons never show up.)

Reverting back to Yoast 12.5.1 resolves the issue.

Looking forward to the 12.6.3 release to resolve this issue.

    Thanks.

  • I can confirm seeing this on some sites as well.

I’m having exactly the same problem, after updating to 12.6. – I have visual tabs everywhere too, but they are connected to nothing.
How do I get back to 12.5.1, or what other options do I have?
    Best regards
    Lars

we have reported this issue in another thread but it’s closed as could not reproduce? why many users report but your tester couldn’t find out???

It seems that updating to 12.7 solves the problem.

    Thanks guys ??

    Best regards

We see you have the error of “Uncaught TypeError: Failed to construct ‘URL’: Invalid URL”. We have seen this on other sites when WordPress is setup to use relative URLs. Please review the wp-config.php file for something like

    define(‘WP_CONTENT_URL’, ‘/somedir’);

You may need to comment it out or make changes to that such as providing the full URL. If you are not sure how to do that, please contact your host provider they can help.

Note that this is an issue. Our developers are aware of this. In the meantime, we suggest signing up for our newsletter as that is where we will announce product changes and updates. You can sign-up for it here https://yoast.com/newsletter/.

If you are still experiencing the issue per the forum guidelines, we ask that you please create separate topics for the issues you are experiencing. That way it’s easier to track issues and provide assistance on your specific concerns on your specific site. Plus, you will get your own alerts for the issue rather than someone else’s. You may make a new topic here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/wordpress-seo/#new-post. Thanks!
