I installed the “WordPress Directory Links” plug today, activated it, made a few settings changes then created a page containing the short-tag that should have created my new Links Directory. Unfortunately, I now get an internal server error since publishing the page.

I’ve tried to fix the issue by deleting the plugin’s directory at WP-content/plugins/wordpress_directory_Links but that didn’t help.

I’ve altered the .htaccess file to check that that isn’t the problem and that didn’t seem to make a difference.

So now I’m wondering if anyone has any other suggestions.

I’ve considered editing my SQL database but I don’t know where to make edits to remove the page I created or make changes that might be helpful, any ideas?

If it helps, my server log reports:

    [Fri Sep 25 13:20:31 2009] [alert] [client 88.109.187.93] ….journalxtra/.htaccess: …./journalxtra/.htaccess:3: <Files> was not closed.

I think there might be a permalink fault somewhere in the database (I knew I should have made a back-up)

    All help welcome.

Solved. Not quite sure where the problem originated but it seems to have been related to my htaccess file. Strange because I removed all but DirectorIndex index.php when the error first occurred and now it works after deleting all its contents, saving it then restoring the line DirectoryIndex index.php . One for my mysterybook.
