Register Plus – OK to Reg With Same Password Checked – But Doesn’t Work

In Register Plus, I’ve enabled (with the checkmark) this:
Allow Existing Email __ Allow new registrations to use an email address that has been previously registered
but
When a user tries to register with an email address that has been previously registered, they get an error message that says ERROR: This email is already registered, please choose another one.
Any solution for this?
