Tried a few things to make this work and Search Console is still throwing errors for me. Not sure what else to do at this point.

    – I’ve tried setting up in Incognito Mode.
    – I do have a GSuite e-mail address that I am using as my verified owner.
    – Logged in as WordPress Admin, with all plugins on and off, no change.
    – And I am the only owner of the Search Console for my domains.

    Any suggestions?
    Dennis

@djenders Thanks for reporting. From within Search Console can you check and ensure there are not duplicate or similar properties listed? In some cases they could be set up specifically with a www and also without.

You can also try deleting any related Search Console property and let Site Kit create that property using that same Google account you are logged into via your browser (you can use a new incognito window again to ensure there are not conflicting Google accounts).

Let me know once you check the above and I would be happy to troubleshoot further if you are encountering the same issue.

I actually deleted the domain in Search Console. I had dupes with and without WWW. Still getting errors after Sitekit set up a new version.

@djenders Thanks for the update. Are the errors you are encountering the same, “User does not have sufficient permission for site”?

@vvinfoso thanks for reaching out! Are you able to open a new support topic per forum guidelines. Your case might be slightly different and it would be best to address it there.

Yes, still receiving the same exact error.

And just to be specific, I see this banner at the top of SiteKit.

    Permissions issue accessing data
This account does not have access to the requested data.

I’ve tried deleting everything three times in Search Console. Opened an Incognito Tab each time I’ve installed. Not sure what else to try.

@djenders thanks for the confirmation. Could you try the following to completely remove the previously verified versions and verify the site anew with Site Kit:

    1) Remove any previous verification methods you had on the site. If it was with Site Kit, then disconnect or reset Site Kit without going through the setup.

    2) Remove the property from Search Console.

    3) Remove all versions of the site on the Webmaster Central Website for your Google Account (next to the listed property go to Verification details > Verified owners > Unverify).

    4) Reset Site Kit (Site Kit > Settings > Admin Settings > Reset Site Kit) and go through the setup process again.

Please let us know if this resolves the issue. Thank you!

I can’t unverify the domain since all of mine are purchased with Google Domains. So all I can do is remove the property Search Console and/or reset Site Kit.

Going to Webmasster Central has a long list of sites verified via domain ownership.

@djenders thanks for following up. I’m going to confer with the team about your case. I’ll follow up as soon as I have more information. thanks again

So, an update after hours of playing with this. I was able to take my current installation that wasn’t working and finally make it work.

I installed Jetpack and under Setting -> Traffic -> Site Verification I enabled that. Boom, everything is working.

It still seems like you guys have a bug somewhere, but that did the trick for now.

thanks for the update @djenders ! I’ll share this with the team and follow up.

@djenders to help us troubleshoot are you able to share the following:

    1) What is your full site URL?
    2) What are both the WordPress and Site Address under Settings > General from the WordPress Dashboard?
    3) How is your site listed in Search Console?
    4) Which versions of the site for your Google Account are listed Webmaster Central Website?

    Thank you!

    1. https://www.jenders.com
    2. Same as above.
    3. Both with and without https. I followed your directions on setup last time around, deleting everything and having SiteKit create it. (Which killed all of my Google Search Rankings BTW…. super sad face.) So it created the HTTP version and I’m pretty sure the authentication through Jetpack created HTTPS.
    4. It just shows as jenders.com

Hope that helps you guys out.

@djenders sorry for the delay in response. That’s odd that your data was affected (in my testing it was restored in Search Console). We really appreciate all your feedback as we look to find the source.
