• This self-hosted WP site feed fails validation. The same link is picked up and works quite happily in various RSS feed readers and the source also seems valid.

Have disabled all plug-ins, used a default them etc but unable to see any fix.

    Any suggestions?

Just to update this one. The error message give is below. No log file seems to be generated.

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

I’m seeing 503 errors for non-browser requests. It’s usually a sign your host is doing rate-limiting of requests to your site.

Not real cool and a host that does that should have recognized the RSS problem if you had asked them about that.

Via my Chrome browser, I was able to see the RSS feed but the W3 validator receives the 503 error.

Sucuri Sitecheck can’t see the site but can see the Cloudflare proxy so we don’t see a ‘Ray ID’ from them which pretty much puts the ‘onus’ on your web host.

Thanks for that feedback; will revert.

Turns out that it was actually Cloudflare causing the problem; pause Cloudflare and everything bursts into life & RSS validation completes. Turn it back on and 503 falls appear again & W3C validation fails.

So even though it wasn’t the host as you suggested, thanks for the pointer which allowed me to trouble-shoot this.
