I have updated a version 2.5.1 wordpress install and when I edit, post new or create a new page, the content is not enclosed in <p> tags. No hard returns or shift returns create any kind of tags. Other tags such as <h> tags work but I never get <p> or
tags unless I manually insert them. Does anyone have a fix or the same problem?
    Cheers

  • The WordPress editor HTML tag does not display <p> tags. That doesn’t mean they are not there. You just don’t see them.

Am I understanding what you are saying correctly? If I am and you want to see <p> tags install the TinyMCE Advanced plugin and turn on the option to always display <p> tags.

No not quite, when I publish the article and view source or switch to the html editor, no p tags have been inserted, it just creates plain text unless I specify it as a header. Its not that I cant see them, it doesnt actually create them.

turn off all your plugins and see if that is still happening. if its still happening switch to the default theme and see if its happening. if switching to default resolves it, it something in your theme. if turning off the plugins resolved it (then you didn’t need to switch themes) turn them on one by one until you find the one that breaks this. You need to find the cause through step by step elimination of possibilities
