A bilingual website I’ve been working on was displaying footers created in the two languages with Elementor – Header, Footer & Blocks in the appropriate language. This is in conjuction with the popular Polylang multilingual plugin. However, now only one language version of the Elementor footer block is displayed irrespective of the language selected to show on the front-end. I believe this is change has been caused by a recent update to the Elementor – Header, Footer & Blocks plugin.

Note that the “Headers Footers template” tickbox has been ticked in the Polylang settings – which activates languages and translations for custom post types.

I’ve found a workaround that works quite well in my situation, but is short of an ideal solution generally. This involves selecting the “Specific Pages / Posts / Taxonomies etc.” filter for the footer in one of my two languages. This involved selecting the specific pages for that language only.

In a website with a large number of pages and/or multiple languages the above process would be very time-consuming.

What is needed is what existed previously – for a particular header or footer to apply to the entire website (or other display criterion) for a particular language only.

    Hello @alarch

We tried to reproduce this issue on our end without any luck. I have a footer created with this plugin and the translation is set in the French language.

However, the translation is working fine. I can see it translating in both English and French language.

Can you open a ticket and mention this topic URL so that we can take a look and help you accordingly?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Hello @brainstormteam
I have the exact same problem @alarch was having. The header and footer trasplations are no longer shoing in english, only in spanish (default languaje).

the “Headers Footers template” tickbox has been ticked in the Polylang settings as well as “my templates”

Did you get around a solution? My site is under development at dev.lastrada “dot” com.co

    thanks in advance

I have the exact same issue. The footer is only displayed in the main language.

    Hi @haidan ,

We tried to replicate the issue, and it seems like we need to fix this from a third-party library. We are in process, and soon we would be fixing this. Meanwhile, you can revert your latest version of our plugin to the older one and see if that works.

You can download the older version of the plugin from our plugin page.

    Hi,

Thanks for that awesome plugin ! I love it ??

I have the same pb. Polylang multilingual doesn’t work anymore.

I rollbacked to release 1.1.2. It’s the last which works with polylang.

    From 1.2.0, it’s over.

    Hello @reventlov

We recently released a huge update for the Elementor Header Footer plugin, which allows users to create multiple Headers & Footers and display them conditionally on different pages.

As of now, users are able to create multiple header and footer and display them conditionally, while the Polylang plugin now needs to provide support for our plugin.

On the same note, we tested Elementor Pro offering similar functionality (to create multiple header and footer and displaying them conditionally) and has similar compatibility issues with Polylang. But there is an addon plugin: “Connect Polylang for Elementor” which makes it compatible.

We have contacted the author of “Connect Polylang for Elementor” requesting if our “Elementor Header Footer” plugin can be supported as well. And hopefully, the support will be added soon.

    I hope that clarifies.

@brainstormteam Thanks for trying to solve this issue for us!

I’m currently using the conditional feature display to get around the situation. Unfortunately it was not possible to make the footer display correctly on all Woocommerce pages. I was unable to find in the conditional list the version of some pages in both languages to select.

Anyway, this feature helped me a lot. Thank you!

I use the “Connect Polylang for Elementor” plugin. It would be amazing if they could support your plugin as well. Thanks for getting in touch with them.

I am using Elementor Free with Polylang Free. I am using “Header, Footer & Blocks Template” plugin to generate headers and footers for the website. Polylang and the Header footer plugin used to to work fine. Correct header was shown for correct language before, but now it doesn’t work. I request the developer to make this plugin compatible with the free Polylang plugin.

    Link to plugin: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/polylang/

Link to this problem in the Polylang plugin forum: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/polylang-not-choosing-right-header-when-used-in-elementor-free/

I request to the developer teams of both plugins to please coordinate and resolve to incompatibility.

    looking forward to solution

Hello adriennetuba, your trick works for 2 languages, but what if there are more languages, and secondly, the developers can easily write just 2-3 lines of code to detect page language using pll_current_language() and show correct header and footer for that language. All, the developers need is a little coordination with each other.

It only shows the french version.

The workaraound from @alarch larch works for me fine too. In the settings of polylang, I had to switch off the options “Elementor – Header Footer & Blocks Template” in the “Custom post types and Taxonomies”-section, then I deleted the created language-footers and duplicated them from the original footer again. From here on I did it like described @alarch, thank you @alarch, you saved my day.

    Hey guys,

I had the first issue as you when I was duplicating the page with a duplicate plugin from the Pages menu. But here’s how I fixed it and probably why the support could not replicate the issue :

In Polylang Languages > Settings > Custom post types and taxonomies I have Elementor – Header Footer & Blocks Template ticked…

    1. I have my main language header/footer and the site works fine
    2. I have Polylang activated and my secondary language pages created
    3. Now I go to Appearance > Header & Footer Plugins > I choose the main language Header or footer then hit EDIT (not edit with Elementor), I do the duplicate for translation here by hitting the + button on the upper right corner for the new language (just like I do with regular pages)
    4. I hit publish
    5. I hit edit with Elementor then make the new language modifications and everything works fine.

DAMN, I deactivate “Custom post types and taxonomies”, for this post purpose to see it work with or without and now it’s not working anymore ticked or unticked ?? ?? ?? ??

    @brainstormteam please help… thanks

Has said above, the only workaround I have now is to deactivate “Custom post types and taxonomies” and tells the footer/header to display on specific pages from Appearance > Header Footer & Blocks Template > Edit > Type of template
    I have 20 pages but for a bigger site that’s not good…
