• I just switched to GeneratePress and am pleased as punch!

With my old theme, I was using huge featured images of 1500 x 1000 pixels. With Generatepress, I am keeping the site contained at 1000 pixels wide.

So, question: What is the ideal ratio for a featured image on GeneratePress?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi there

    glad you’re enjoying the Theme.
GP doesn’t stipulate any ‘ideal’ sizes or ratios – it really depends on your design.

As you already have a load of 1500×1000 images in play i would keep the 0.66 aspect ratio – so 1000 x 660px ?

    Thanks for the prompt response!

And I am enjoying GeneratePress. I was using Twenty Seventeen, which allowed me the big featured image, which I love!

But I wanted a newer, faster theme. I demoed LOTS of theme designs, every one of which had some major failing (for my needs).

I was leaning toward Astra, which seems to be so many WordPress columnists’ fave theme these days. What won me over to GeneratePress was an accident: While tinkering around with various themes, I had ignored the Logo options in the Site Identity. To me, a logo is a small doodad that goes in the upper right corner of a website.

For some reason, I chose one of my 1500×1000 images as a logo and skipped the cropping and (lo and behold!) I had a beautiful, BIG featured image on my homepage!

I tried the same thing on Astra, OceanWP, and a few others but only GeneratePress worked in this way.

So, now I’m a GeneratePress guy and I’m saving the 50¢-a-week allowance my wife gives me so I can go Pro!

    Keep on keepin’ on!
