• Hello everyone.
I am creating a site with WP Multisite.
Currently, there is an index “site under construction”

I am creating pages of the main site; when I want to preview a “published” page I only get the following message:

    Not Found
The requested URL was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an Error Document to handle the request.

On the contrary, I can only see the preview of pages saved as a draft.
    Thank you,

  • Try going to your Multisite Network Dashboard to the section Settings > Network Setup and make sure you’ve set up your wp-config.php and .htaccess as instructed there.

Hello, checked everything according to instruction, tried several changes. Still nothing works as expected. Only draft pages can be seen as preview. Published pages I get the error as mentioned.

If you are using a maintenance screen plugin that allows admin login then you can just view the website as admin. I don’t think you can actually ‘preview’ a published page or post. I’m not sure why you would even have a preview button unless you are clicking the permalink from the editor screen.

If you are clicking the permalink itself then you’ll either be handled as admin if you have the maintenance plugin or else your maintenance page would be served as any other visitor would see it.

There must something wrong somewhere but I don’t know where, htaccess and config are correctly configured.

Today I tried to start the 2nd and 3rd website https://www.maindomain.com/abc/
I get the same 404 error even trying to access the admin dashboard.

The only thing that works is when I move permalinks from the default one to the plain one:
https://www.maindomain.it/?p=123 In this way I can see the published pages otherwise published page always return 404 error.

But then I found out a REST API error:

    Not Found
The requested URL was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
