• I installed WP without problems, that was the easy part.
But I am a bit overwehlmed by all the possibilities, it looks so much more complex than B2. So excuse me if I overlooked a simpel solution.

I would like to try and upload an image via the edit part, but I don’t seem to be able to find a button or so to do that? Shouldn’t there be an option in the same screen where you write the message?

    Thanks for any help.

    Greetings, Marion

Go to Options/Miscellaneous and turn on file uploads. You will then see an “Upload” button in your main menu bar.

Sorry for pushing the button twice ??
    I deleted this second post

Ah, yes, off course. I thought I’d done that.
Thanks, I do see the button now, but I get an error that the directory is not writable.
I am on a windows server, could that be the problem?

Set the permissions of the upload directory to 777 (CHMOD 777).

I tried some more and installed the plugin Exhibit. It uses the same directory that I intended for uploading pictures and it seems to work!
So I guess the rights are ok.

Maybe I got the settings wrong?
    Destination directory: dompics/images
    URI of this directory: https://dompics.schippie.nl/images

Any idea why I get this message when I try to upload:
It doesn’t look like you can use the file upload feature at this time because the directory you have specified (dompics/images) doesn’t appear to be writable by WordPress. Check the permissions on the directory and for typos.

I cannot CHMOD on a windows server, my ISP tells me all rights are 777.
And they seem to be, judging by the working of Exhibit.

In that case, you and wp would seem to be disagreeing on the directory – you are looking at different directories ?

    I used these:
    Destination directory: dompics/images
    URI of this directory: https://dompics.schippie.nl/images
WP suggestes wp-content, I have tried to fill that in or the wp-images, but I get the same error message.

I don’t understand the suggestion WP gives for the Destination directory: c:\domains\schippie.nl\wwwroot\dompics/wp-content

It doesn’t mean that I should fill in the local path, does it? Anyway, I tried, but the slashes are stripped ??

Destination needs to be a full path.
And if the slashes are being stripped, reverse them ?

Use forward slashes a€?/a€? to specify the directory.

    I tried:
    https://www.schippie.nl/dompics/images
    and
    https://dompics.schippie.nl/images
(its a subdomain), but still the same message, that ‘images’ doesn’t seem writable.

I’m lost and tired, I’ll check in tomorrow ??

That’s a url, not a path – you need a path, and wp probably guessed right.

Below the input field, WP will give you a “Recommended Path”. Use that.

I did, reversed the slashes and yes!!! it works!
Thanks for the help and sorry for being so stubborn ;-(
