Breadcrumbs Showing In Odd Order In Blog

What is being used as the home page? For example, is the home page a blog post who is categorized as ‘SEO News’ ?

No, the home page is a page called home and created as a page in 2004, The main blog page is also created as a page? Who uses blog posts as main pages? Do people actually do that? LOL, I guess so or you would not have assumed. No, I would not do that I have been using WP since beta

We are not sure why the breadcrumbs are appearing like that. We would like some more information.

1. If you go SEO-Search Appearance-Breadcrumbs does disabling Show Blog page change anything? Same with adjusting the Taxonomy to Show in the Breadcrumbs. If you select different items from the drop-down boxes does it change?

2. Are all your non-Yoast plugins and themes also updated? Such as the Total Theme?

3. Can you confirm you are using the most recent Yoast SEO, v13.0 If you update, does the issue resolve?

This is an actively run business site always updated within minutes of updates coming out. The most recent version of Yoast used with today’s update. It does not appear that I have an option to turn off the show blog. see screenshot.. https://ibb.co/z8jCQX0

I did find an option of what you speak of in the Total Theme customize options. Toggling on or off the show blog page in the breadcrumbs option did not do anything. Might be a Total theme bug? See screenshot.

The blog toggle in Yoast SEO breadcrumbs in only available if you have set WordPress up to use static pages for the homepage and blog page.

Please go to Admin > Settings > Reading

What option is select for ‘Your homepage displays’?

If it is set to ‘Your latest posts’, this is likely the cause of the odd structured breadcrumbs. Looking at your homepage, it certainly appears as a static page and given that your theme has a blog breadcrumb option, we can only guess that it’s how the theme is designed. Some themes don’t use the homepage setting while still creating a static homepage and the unexpected breadcrumb output would need to be handled by the theme author.

If it is set to ‘Static page’, please make sure you have correctly selected the home and blog page in the off chance that maybe the home is set as the blog or vice versa. Or that one of the either hasn’t been selected at all.

It’s worth mentioning that I have seen a third option in this area (only once though) which was an option created by the theme. I could see that having this third option could cause unexpected behaviors related to breadcrumbs and would be something to bring up to the theme author.

I think I might need to contact AJ the developer of the theme and see if its something on his end I have also been debating the premium version of the software

I’m also having a similar issue.

URL structure is; https://westwaysnew-co-uk.stackstaging.com/vending-machines/water-coolers/table-top/

But breadcrumbs are showing as;
HOME WATER COOLERS VENDING MACHINES TABLE TOP

Vending machines should be before water coolers. It seems to happen once you get 3/4 levels deep.

I’m about to give up on this plugin I think I’ve been using it since 2014 for all our clients. If it’s still not 100% By the next update we have made plans to migrate all our clients to another SEO plugin. Unfortunately, it’s going to come at our expense and time. This is why we have been holding off and not upgrading the clients any longer and rolled back to 13.5 for everyone. The new updates we have been testing on our dev server since we can not trust this module to just install blindly any longer on our production sites.

just wanted to confirm the problem. It exists since version 14.0 or 14.0.1
SEO Plugin 13.5 shows the breadcrumb elements in the correct order.

Updating to current Version reverses the breadcrumb for woocommerce (current version) product categories, when they are set to be integrated in the product page.

/shop/gartenhaeuser/design-gartenhaeuser/gartenhaus-sina/
correct breadcrumb:
Home -> Shop -> Gartenh?user -> Desing-Gartenh?user

wrong breadcrumb (with version 14.x of yoast)
Home -> Shop -> Desing-Gartenh?user -> Gartenh?user

—> so this is definitely a bug/problem on yoast’s side..

It’s not just product categories, but standard pages too.

My URL structure (for example) is;
home/vending-machines/coffee-machines/floor-standing/floor-standing-bean-to-cup-coffee-vending-machine/

The breadcrumbs are showing;
HOME > FLOOR STANDING > COFFEE MACHINES > VENDING MACHINES > FLOOR STANDING BEAN TO CUP COFFEE VENDING MACHINE

The subpages (all pages, not product categories) are completely reversed…

I got the same problem. Glad I’m not alone.

Instead of:

Home / Wallpaper/ Jungle wallpaper / Palm paradise

it shows:

Home / Jungle wallpaper / Wallpaper / Palm paradise

I must say that I’ve set the subcategory (in this case Jungle wallpaper) to primary, as that’s the only way to make it appear in the breadcrumbs.

Same problem here. Even if it is a theme problem you should fix this as if you made a change to this part, the theme devs should know. It doesn’t seem like a theme related problem at all. Saying for us to buy the Premium plugin just so you can fix a problem seems like a dumb move to make.
This was working fine before so it’s something after version 14.0
I think this is a page order number as this doesn’t happen in all pages event though they sometimes belong to the same parent page…
