thanks Shane but I am trying to find out what error is causing all the links to show on the pages.

ok fixed. i edited index page and replaced

<div class=”navigation”>
<div class=”alignleft”><?php posts_nav_link(”,”,’« Previous Entries’) ?></div>
<div class=”alignright”><?php posts_nav_link(”,’Next Entries »’,”) ?></div>
</div>

with

<div class=”navigation”>
<div class=”alignleft”><?php next_posts_link(‘« Older Entries’) ?></div>
<div class=”alignright”><?php previous_posts_link(‘Newer Entries »’) ?></div>
</div>
