    Hey guys,

the new tabs layout is a complete mess if you’re still using Classic Editor.

There’s overlapping fields, and some weirdness with the page throwing up the “do you want to stay or leave this page” modal box when clicking on the links to “View file size and duration”, and the Apple Podcasts “see more options”.

Also, IMO, not having the entire media file link visible is a poor UI choice, especially when working with people who are not as savvy with WordPress and are just following legacy instructions ??

edit: it’s even worse. When I edit a post, and click on “see more options”, the page reloads almost immediately, and the extra settings that I’m trying to access close back up.

    Hello @fpmsummer,

    Thank you for you feedback.

We are looking into these issues.

We will do more testing with the classic editor. Are you using an older version of WordPress? We have been testing with the “Classic Editor” plugin, perhaps there is a version of WordPress or a different classic editor we need to test with?

We will have a discussion with our UX designer about the URL being removed and see if we can have the URL re-added.

We are aware of the “see more options” and “View file size and duration” buttons problem, we made them use new logic to make sure it is accessible to visually impaired users and it appears the links for those buttons are trying to navigate, which was not the intent. We’re working on a hotfix for this today.

    Thanks,
    Angelo

    Hey Angelo,

All of the sites are using the latest versions of WordPress, v5.3.2, and v 1.5 of the Classic Editor plugin by “WordPress Contributors”. Also using both Firefox and Chrome (latest versions).

If you need any screenshots, just ask ??

Just wanted to confirm I’m having the same issues on a site I manage. The plugin is almost completely broken. The “change media” and “verify link” buttons do nothing, and every other button just reloads the editor page.

The site is fully updated to WordPress 5.3.2 and version 1.5 of the Classic Editor plugin.

    Hello @iotabit and @fpmsummer,

We are almost ready to release a hotfix to deal with these critical issues. We’re aware the CSS and JS on some installations is not getting loaded which is causing the issues.

This next hotfix, when you hover your muose over the episdoe filename box, it will show the entire URL as a tooltoip. Once we give this feedback to our UX designer we’ll figure out a better way to display the full URL.

    Thanks,
    Angelo

Thanks for the quick response! I installed the update and everything seems to be working as intended now.

I do have one issue. It looks like you took away the option to remove a podcast from a post. I can update or change the URL, but not remove it completely. Will this be added back later?

After the hotfix, there’s still a major glitch in the File Size and Duration fields display.

Both the file size and duration fields are split (not on the same line), and because of how they are split, they line up with the “Auto detect” radio buttons.

It’s a very confusing layout, how they line up can cause some readability confusion until you figure out what you’re actually looking at ??

the seconds box appears below the hours/minutes box, and is aligned with the “Auto detect duration” radio button… it took me all day to figure out what that number was and why it was placed where it currently sits.

    Hi @fpmsummer

    Thank you for using PowerPress!

We just released version 8.2.2 with some bug fixes and minor styling tweaks. Some of the issues we addressed in this update were pointed out in this thread. Hopefully the interface is easier to read now.

Feel free to let us know if you have any more feedback, or if this update doesn’t fully solve your problems. Thanks!

Yes! The readability of the File Size and Duration fields are 200% better now.

There’s another glitch I’m seeing, the “Season” field is now default “1”, for ALL episodes, and I think that was introduced with the 8.2.1 update (it wasn’t there in the 8.2 update).

We have a bunch of shows that span 10-plus years and 600-plus episodes… I don’t think “1” should be default for “Season”, and deleting it doesn’t stick… any way to make that an empty field again?

Glad to hear those fields look better now. We’re going to spend a few days on the next update so we should have plenty of time to re-evaluate how we’re handling the season setting. You can look out for another update early next week.

Thank you for your thoughts! We’re always working to improve our plugin and that starts with user feedback.

    Ben
