    (@salcedoms)

    Woocommerce is changing the “Display name publicly as” field in wordpress dashboard after a user has placed an order. This issue was reported back in 2017 in https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/issues/16015 and i don’t know if it’s been resolved.

    For example my user name is “admin”, but after placing an order now my user profile includes a first and last name that did not previously exist. But most importantly, even though my user profile still indicates that my preference for displaying my user name is “admin”, it seems like my network is no longer reading this “Display name publicly as” setting and it is being overridden after a woocommerce order. Could anybody please give me a light as to how to solve this or if there are ways to customise display?

  • Hi,

    It looks like there was a fix set for this in the following PR.

    https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/pull/15239

    There is also a workaround for this that you may find useful. It is possible to disable the customer data update by adding this line to the Code Snippets plugin or the functions.php file:

    add_filter( 'woocommerce_checkout_update_customer_data', '__return_false' );

    I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any more questions about this.

    Take care!
