Regarding your links, WordPress and well made themes will use your site & home urls for the most part with the slug of the page you’re requesting (usually by post ID). If you’ve coded a non-relative link in your content that may not update (there’s no reference for WP to always do this), and this will be the case for menus etc with hard coded custom links. Page links that use the ID and get the link through PHP functions instead will update dynamically. Usually a find and replace in the DB can resolve old link issues.

Do you have the same issue with an FQDN?

Hi, it looks like I have a similar problem. I have a server that I have setup locally but am also accessing it externally. I can access WordPress directly via localhost but if I try to access it from outside I get :-

a 500 Internal Server Error on the frame redirect-
https://41.21.46.12:8080/wp-blog/ -> frame going to /blog/

https://41.21.46.12:8080/blog/
is changed to
https://41.21.46.12/blog/

https://41.21.46.12:8080/blog/wp-admin/
is changed to
https://localhost/blog/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2F41.21.46.12%3A8200%2Fblog%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1

I have looked at setting the system up as a single site but am not getting anywhere – I can’t find any controls to sort the problem.

The server is on a LAN and is being accessed via port forwarding. The IP address is not static.

WordPress uses the root url from the option named home and siteurl so if you try access WordPress outside their computer it might get the incorrect path for css and javascript.

Made the executive decision to dump WordPress – the ‘nasty code experience’. I have an in house alternative that I will use. Thanks anyway. PS Moin Moin works.
