Profile Picture Upload does not work

    Hi,

    in my user setting I want to change my profile picture. However, I can press “Browse…” and select a new picture. Then the file name is shown next to the Browse-Button, but the image is never uploaded…

    When I deactivate your plugin I can only change the picture via gravatar…

    What can I do to upload a new image?

    As for all profile settings, you have to click “Save” for them to take effect.

    to be more concrete: the old picture is still shown, after pressing “Update Profile” at the very end of the page…

    ok – I have another plugin “Simple Author Box” installed, which prevents uploading…

    When I deactivate “Simple Author Box” I can upload a new picture… (but then simple author box does not have a picture…)

    Have you verified that its not a caching issue (shift-reload in the browser)? I’ve noticed that on local MAMP sites.

    Yes, I’ve seen that, but it might still have been a caching issue.

    Well, I’ll check out “Simple Author Box”. From a quick look, it seems like a lot of code for something as simple as an author box (including 20 KLOC of “non-functional” code in the form of Freemius).

    H @toengel, I can’t reproduce the issue. Simple Author Box adds its own upload feature to the profile, but if you ignore that, the one included with Avatar Privacy works fine in a minimal environment. The uploaded image also shows up in the frontend author box added by SAB.

    Sometimes, the old picture is still shown because the browser uses the cached image (it is something I’m investigating). Clicking “reload” fixes that.

    @toengel Can you reproduce the issue when there’s just Avatar Privacay and Simple Author Box installed? If so, please let me know exact steps necessary to trigger it.

    Hi,

    I did fix it by deactivating every plugin which is “doing” something with the profile… then I activated them 1 by 1… and at the end with different orders I managed, that it works… don’t ask which order… don’t remember

    OK that’s weird. I’ll check if I can do a custom integration with Simple Author Box (as I do with some other plugins). Would you prefer keeping Simple Author Box’ upload capability or Avatar Privacy’s? (Normally I’d use the one provided by dedicated plugins, but in Simple Author Box it seems like an add-on.)
