I am SO new at this…help? Installing autofocus theme

  • Hello All

    I just registered my domain name with ixwebhosting, and have been trying in vain to install the autofocus theme. I have been accessing the /wordpress/wp-content/themes via the control panel’s file manager and uploading the autofocus file to that place, then decompressing it. It shows up in the file manager, but not when I go to my wordpress page, the theme is not available.

    Please realize that I know absolutely nothing about coding or the systems that work together to make a website. I am starting from scratch so don’t assume I am doing something that is common sense…Because I probably don’t know what that is! I have tried talking to IXwebhosting but although they try, they only reiterate what is on the wordpress support manuals. I have tried to figure this out myself and just can’t seem to get it.

  • Have you tried using the admin section of WP to install your theme? I typically unzip, upload via ftp and it shows in themes, but sounds like you’re using the hosting control panel to install, not the WP admin section. Try using the admin for WP to install it.

    I always install via FTP (Filezilla) and never have any installation problems. Are you sure you have it installed in the right place?
