More and more of my sites are having this problem.
    What’s going on?

I think this is just a temproary issue and rarely happens because it was caused by the Dropbox server.
But I think the following settings could help:
BackWPUp -> Settings -> Jobs -> Reduce server load -> mimium.

Thanks for getting back to me, but that doesn’t seem to have changed anything.

I now have 4 different websites that are all having this issue (after running BackWPup for years, and never seeing this issue).

I just made the changes that you suggested, to the first domain that gave me the problem, last week. I then ran the job manually and the issue was just the same again.

    What should I do next?

    Thanks,
    Damian

We are contacting Dropbox and ask for the support, will update you when I have any new from them ^^
    Thank you for reporting!

Btw, the issue because of the free version of BackWPUp share one single Dropbox application API key( the InpsydeBackWPUp Dropbox ), in Pro version, you can configure your own Dropbox API so just you use the application, which means there should be no rate API limit!

    @daminator
there is a new update from Dropbox team, so basically they said that if one single Dropbox account has many API requests at a same time, the Dropbox server will throw the warning “Your app is making too many requests, so could you please check if your account has the issue?

All of my BackWPup backups happen in the middle of the night, and the different websites backup on different days of the week.

There shouldn’t be anything going on with Dropbox other than the single BackWPup process of one website.

    Any update on this?

It’s affecting 6 of my WordPress installs now!

I’m now getting this problem with all of my WordPress installs!

They have been working fine, with BackWPup for years, but now, every one of them is broken.

Is there any sign of a fix, or do I need to start using a different plugin?

    Thanks,
    Damian

Just you only get this issue so I really think the issue on your account :/
Maybe you could try with other plugins and let me know, that would really help us to identify the issue.
    Thank you!

since we haven’t heard back from you, I’m going to mark it as resolved.
If you’re still having problems, feel free to let us know ;),

    It’s very much not resolved.

All of my domains are now having problems with BackWPup.

I’ve gone from being very happy with BackWPup, for years, to looking for an alternative plugin. I’d much rather stay with BackWPup, but there seems to be no solution to this problem that’s affecting all of my sites.

    @daminator
did you try with another solution, is that work for you? TY so much!

    Thread Starter daminator

    (@daminator)

    I haven’t tried a different app yet.

I keep hoping that BackWPup will start working again.

However, the problem has probably gone on for too long and I just need to give up on BackWPup. It seem such a shame after so many years of working perfectly.

daminator, I am with you. I have used Backwpup on 24 sites for years with essentially no problem and now there is always an issue and support has really been slow. They put together a great plugin with some great features but if it can’t consistently produce a valid backup then it has no value to me.

If you or anyone else who reads this thread have any suggestions for an alternative plugin, please share it. It’s past time for me to find another solution.

To support at Backwpup, you built a great product but it lacks a level of technical support when we out here in the real world are struggling. Please tell me you can get your act together on this.

Is your issue the same as mine jschmidtsbss?

Support seemed to think that I was the only one with this problem.
