Upgrades and Plugin Install

  • Hi all,

    I’m having trouble upgrading from 2.8.4 to 2.8.5 in the same way that i have had trouble installing plugins without FTPing them. I click the “Install” button, and it brings me to an install page, but it freezes on:
    Downloading update from https://www.ads-software.com/wordpress-2.8.5.zip.

    Or when I try to install a plugin, it freezes on:
    Downloading install package from……

    And other times:

    Downloading install package from…..
    Unpacking the package.

    Looking into my folders now, I see that the zip files are being placed into the wp-content folder, but they are empty, and obviously not being executed.

    Any suggestions?

  • I’m having the same issue, and upgrading manually from 2.8.5 to 2.8.6 did not solve the issue. This is a frustrating problem! I’ve changed the permissions on folders to 777 and back again, because that didn’t work. I’ve disabled all plugins as well. Any brilliant minds out there have any ideas?
