I’m getting this error message between the H1 and blog content on my posts since the latest plugin update:

Warning: strpos(): Empty needle in /home/customer/www/digitalnomadsoul.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/easy-table-of-contents/includes/class.post.php on line 445

If I deactivate the plugin, the error message is gone (but obviously so are the table of contents on all posts).

This error appears only on some posts, not all. Does anyone know how to fix that?

This would be an example: https://www.digitalnomadsoul.com/set-up-a-shopify-store/

Hmmm… not sure how it get to that section of code and be empty. Regardless, I added a check for this potential empty value. This will is fix in the next update. Coming really soon, perhaps Monday or Turesday.

    Apologies for the trouble!

Hi I am still getting this issue despite update. Can you please advise. Thanks

I suspect you need to clear all your caches and verify that the latest version is installed because it is not possible for the error to occur on that line any longer because that line no longer exists.

I have just checked on another phone and it is still displaying the error message.

The timestamp on the cached page still shows an old date, please, like I suggested,
verify that the latest version is install and clear all the page caches.

Thanks for your help, Steven! However, the error message is still there. I have updated the plugin and cleared the cache ??

The cache timestamp on the page still says it is old:

<!-- This website is like a Rocket, isn't it? Performance optimized by WP Rocket. Learn more: https://wp-rocket.me - Debug: cached@1583787907 -->

Please contact the caching plugin support team if the page cache is not being cleared.

I’ve installed and run two other caching plugins. It’s very unlikely that all 3 are not working. But the error is still there. Do you have any other idea what could be wrong here?

    Steven

    (@shazahm1hotmailcom)

Sorry, really not sure what to tell you. The page has a timestamp on it 1583787907 This timestamp is added by a caching plugin, this timestamp is not changing and it is old. This indicates that an old cached version of the page is being served. That old version is showing the error.

Additionally, the code which showed the error no longer exists on line 445. So that also indicates either a cached page is being served or the latest version of ezTOC is not installed.

You’ve said that version 2.0.1 of ezTOC is installed, that leaves only the cache.

You will have to contact the cache plugin support team to help you clear the cache.

I see you were able to clear the page cache this morning and that the error message is no longer displayed.

No, unfortunately not. I simply disabled the automatic insertion of the toc for this post.
As said, I’ve tried 3 different caching plugins and now given up.

I just hope that the error message doesn’t appear on other posts, too (I haven’t checked all of them yet).

REAs said, I’ve tried 3 different caching plugins and now given up.

The page source does not lie … the server was still serving an older cached version of the page which had the error on it (based on the timestamp added by the caching plugin) … which is why I kept on suggesting you contact the caching plugin support team to have them help you properly flush the cache.

Now that the page cache has been cleared, as indicated by the timestamp added by the caching plugin, the error should not be present.

I got that the error shouldn’t be there anymore and that there is apparently a caching issue with that page.

    Thank you!

Hi Steven, just to give you an update: The error now is displaying in another post in line 450, link: https://www.digitalnomadsoul.com/digital-nomad-programs-and-retreats/

I will simply deactivate the toc on this page, too, to get rid of the message. But I thought I let you know about it anyway.

Hi – I am having the same issue and error on my site. Some posts are ok though but most are not.

Updated to Version 2.0.3 and cleared the cache several times.

    Plugin disabled for now.

    Many thanks
    Mark
