• I am using the latest WP plugin for imagfy.
    a. if you have a bunch of “other” folders like for your forum or wiki (non-wordpress pages)… it often will keep rescanning (under bulk optimization) these images and then say “already optimized”

    b. there doesnt seem to be a way to make it more efficient and remember “these are already optimized, skip super fast!”…. the bulk optimizer does 4 or so at a time then will take just as long to “these are already optimized” as it does when it finds a picture to optimize.

    xenforo forums and mediawiki

THANKS A TON! possibly consider an optimization to fast skip optimized images?

roughly 18000 images have been “imagfy”, it estimates 7100 left to optimize… however a large chunk of these already are. most of these appear to be thumbnails in the wiki.

possibly it hangs from growing a long list in the browser? could “Custom folders” “details” have an option to clear the list after 100 images (check box) ? that may speed it up and prevent it form eventually timing out in the browser.

My guess is i removed then added a folder which triggered the scan?

    Hey @xxjergerxx

As you mentioned, if you re-add images (folders), these will be scanned again so that must be the case.

If you see anything wrong/strange, let us know.

so today i logged back in (no changes to folders), and it went from 100% back to 70% complete… it is scanning images and coming back “already optimized” for about 10k images that are already optimized.

This is the 2nd time it happened this week and 3x previously. However in this case I made no changes.

I am stumped since it takes forever to “revierfy already optimized” on thousands of images.

Today was for wiki (media wiki) “custom folders”. I imagine a couple images have since been added, which would be a PITA if you have to scan 10k images for 24+ hours to optimize 3 images in a folder.

if i go to “other media” it shows 18000 images optimized, if I go to bulk optimization it stays hovered around 13.5k images… about once a week it will revert from 100% optimized to 70% or so then attempt to re-optimize the remaining 5000 images each coming back “already optimized”

    Thread Starter xxjergerxx

    (@xxjergerxx)

darn it did it again today, back to scanning the last 4-5k images (70% ) for the 3rd time which takes about 10 hours. ?? all but 5 or so will already be optimized.

Still having this issue in wordpress with the wiki and forum folders (other media)

Each day it reverts from 100% to 70% and rescans 3000-5000 images as “already optimized”.

    Thanks for reviewing

Happened again today back to 70%, it will rescan 3000-5000 images but only 10-20 will need compression

    (@xxjergerxx)

These non-wp imagfy “other media” appear to be the culprit. No matter how many times I imagfy, imagfy always reverts the next day to 70% complete then when optimizing says they are already optimized.

Bulk Optimizer will say 100% complete > then 94% then count down to 63-70% and start over re-imagfying the same images.

back to 73% today and recompressing thousands of images then “already optimized” @wp_media

    example:

    310px-guesthouse02.jpg ALREADY OPTIMIZED
    857px-guesthouse02.jpg ALREADY OPTIMIZED
    397px-guesthouse02.jpg ALREADY OPTIMIZED
    682px-guesthouse02.jpg ALREADY OPTIMIZED
    142px-guesthouse02.jpg ALREADY OPTIMIZED
    828px-guesthouse02.jpg ALREADY OPTIMIZED
    793px-guesthouse02.jpg ALREADY OPTIMIZED
    830px-guesthouse02.jpg ALREADY OPTIMIZED

any ideas to get it to only optimize the images in these folders once? (non-wp folders added to the wp plugin) @wp_media

I dont see any options in the configuration to prevent it from rescanning. thanks a ton!

    Thread Starter xxjergerxx

    (@xxjergerxx)

@wp_media just curious if you have an update or idea? thanks!

Thanks for the reply! I can discuss that with the server owner (sftp access).

However I do not want to remove / re add the custom folders or the images will stop compressing all together on xenforo/media wiki. When we last discussed , when the photos do get added the entire process starts over (usually it ping pongs to 73% and i’d rather have it not go back down to 10%). When I did test this, it was fine (wordpress would stay at 100% when wordpress only… I verified WP images are being compressed on a regular basis without having to run imagfy)

the main wp media images are fine and compressing automatically. I dont think xenforo/media wiki in the “custom photos” are compressing automatically on user upload , only when I run the plugin.

do the other non-wp folders need a different level of read/write access maybe?
