Site shows up great in FireFox but not in Explorer?

  • Hi all. I am fairly new at CSS and PHP but have been hacking away at it for the past couple of weeks. I am using the Kubrick theme and everything looks great in Firefox — alignment of elements, etc.

    The problem is that when I view it in IE (on any computer) the alignment of the banner is off to the left and the sidebar items don’t show up.

    If you catch it quick enough, they seem to show up in the background but the page loads over it. Is the ordering in the style sheet or index.php incorrect?

    Any help would be immensely appreciated and rewarded with fame and riches — or at least a soda.

  • Yeah IE pretty much sucks when it comes to delicate CSS work. ??

    You will find that either Firefox is more compliant or just damn forgiving in laying out your site.

    I’ve had a heck of a time to get my site to look somwhat decent in IE, after I got a point, I just gave up and let it be.

    Not sure how much of real help I could be, but just keep mucking around with the CSS in IE until it looks decent, but be careful beause making something IE compliant will, unfortunately, break FF.

    Odds are IE is putting some padding onto the sidebar that causes it to be pushed to the bottom of the page. I had my battle with this last night working on my own site. Finally got it working. As soon as I can (tonight some time) I’ll post my findings and how I got around it.
