    Hi,

I bought premium Smush today, and I’ve been pretty impressed with how easy it is to use for how technical it is. However, I am not sure I am using it completely correctly.

I am building a new site, and it is loading images slowly, which I didn’t understand because I don’t have that many of them yet. Then, when I looked in my Media Library, I noticed all of my blog photos in there.

I have connected a blog to my site that I wrote before I ever had a site, and before I knew about web optimization for images. I am wondering of Smush sees these. Just out of curiosity, I downloaded one of these photos, which was 133KB, and ran it through the desktop version of TinyPNG just to see what would happen. It cut the photo down to 72KB.

So what can I do to get those optimized the best possible? I can’t really stomach the thought of downloading them all, optimizing separately, and re-inserting, but neither do I want to lose this blog history by just disconnecting the blog.

    Do you have any help?

Also, I have noticed on the bulk smush, it always seems to think I have an attachment that needs smushing, even when I’ve just smushed, and re-checked having done nothing else. What is up with that?

    Thanks.

    Hi @featherhead

    I hope you’re well today!

By default Smush uses loseless compression, stripping only “visually irrelevant” data from an image which results in less compression/optimization that might be expected but it also guarantees unchanged image quality.

There’s a super-smush option available as well which provides more “aggressive” optimization, resulting in much more compression and more savings so that’s what you might want to give a try.
