Dara: Issues with Jetpack and featured images

  • I’m having issues with featured images on my site. The issues seem to be related to the combination of the Dara theme, Jetpack plugin, and Easy Digital Downloads (EDD) plugin.

    – When Jetpack is activated, my EDD shop page does not show thumbnails for any products. This is definitely not ideal, in terms of sales! EDD normally generates these thumbnails based on whatever image is set as the “featured image” for that product.

    – When I deactivate the Jetpack theme, the thumbnails on the shop page show as desired.

    I would like to be able to use Jetpack. How can I solve the issue with the thumbnails not appearing?

    You’ll want to contact EDD directly to find out if they’re aware of the conflict. Please reconnect Jetpack to the site so we can test it in our debugging tools. Thanks ??

    Thank you for replying, @lizkarkoski! Jetpack is currently activated on my site.

    I did contact EDD directly as well recently. They suggested pinpointing which specific module within Jetpack might be causing the issue. But Jetpack has changed a lot recently — I don’t think there is a module related to featured images anymore. So, I’m not sure how to proceed from here.

    If you go into Jetpack->Settings->Performance and disable the Site Accelerator or Lazy Loading options if enabled does that get the images showing up? I’m not sure what it is supposed to look on the site right now, but I don’t see any code for images showing up on your shop page for the products.

    Hi Jarret. Unfortunately, all of the settings at Jetpack->Settings->Performance are already turned off, so that is probably not related to the issue.

    The shop page normally shows preview images for each item for sale. (Easy Digital Downloads uses custom post types, which I believe are called “downloads”. By default, EDD shows thumbnails based on whatever image is set as the “featured image” on each product page.)

    When I deactivate the Jetpack plugin, the thumbnails show just fine. When I activate Jetpack, the thumbnails stop showing. I could send you a screenshot of what the shop page looks like when Jetpack is deactivated, if that might help any. Let me know.

    Any other ideas for how I should proceed, to solve this problem?

    Hmmm interesting, would you be able to deactivate Jetpack temporarily for the time being so we can see what the source code looks like? I’ve copied the current source code of the shop page so I can reference that later on.

    Hi @jarret. I’ve just deactivated Jetpack, so feel free to take a look! Let me know if you see anything.

    Hmm I setup Jetpack on my own site, activated Dara (though looking at the code this wouldn’t be specific to Dara itself) and used the EDD [downloads] shortcode for a page and the thumbnail is showing up ok for me.

    If re-enable Jetpack but deactivate all other plugins (if possible) does that get the images working?
