Hi, I had upgraded my WP version from 2.8.4. to 2.8.5 a few days ago, which is giving some problems with my advertisings. I am considering to downgrade back to 2.8.4, I have a back-up copy available of all files.

My question is, in which way does a WP upgrade manipulate the database? Is it sufficient to simply replace the old 2.8.4 files via FTP, is it necessary to recover the SQL database also? From what I understood the SQL database contains nothing more than the posts and comments, or does it?

    Thanks.

  • yu should restore the previous database, also. It contains some tables and referrings to the current version.

since there was no database upgrade from 2.8.4 to 2.8.5 you can safely downgrade your files to 2.8.4
