    Hello,

I have multiple private podcasts with Powerpress using podcast channels. On one of the channels I go to Website tab and click Enable PowerPress Playlist Player. When I save, it becomes unticked again. Any ideas why? I can’t use the shortcode until it’s activated. I’m also using Custom Post Types to make the podcast channels.

    Ben,

This is a bug in the display of that box. IF you go to the bottom of the main PowerPress settings pages, you can check the box there for playlist player. It will stay checked and will be enabled globally on your site. Ignore the checkbox in the website tabs. We will get that fixed in a future update. Thanks!

Hey Mike, I’ve got that checked already. However when I insert the podcast channel shortcode [powerpress_playlist channel=”2020-online”] nothing shows up. I use Elementor and have tried with the shortcode widget and the text editor widget.

Is nothing showing up because the CPT doesn’t actually display the episode? Here’s an example of one of the posts in the CPT: https://theacademyint.com/podcasts/week-6-foundational-theology-mark/

The podcast feed itself generates perfectly.

Make sure you assign the channel to the correct post type in the “other settings” tab for the channel.

    I’ve checked that already.

I think the trouble is you need a login / password for that feed. I am not sure that will work with the playlist player.

    Hey Mike.
That’s fair enough. In the end I was able to embed the most recent episode on the website using the Radio Public player, as they allow embedding private rss feeds. I still use Powerpress to generate the feed.

    Hello,

Sorry for delay to get to this. So you are aware, you are uysing a custom post type the post type as well as the channel should b ein the Playlist player shortcode. e.g.

    [powerpress_playlist channel="2020-online" post_type="post-type-here"]

If you edit the post type in question and go to website, the shortcode should be generated there so you can simply copy/paste it where you need it.

Also if the post type is password protected as Mike noted the player will not appear unless you are signed into the site for security purposes.

    Thanks,
    Angelo

    Hi @amandato

Thanks for that additional info. It’ll be so good to get this working.
    However it’s still not showing up. I entered [powerpress_playlist channel=”2020-online” post-type=”Podcasts”]
I’m using Jet Engine to set the CPT. Here’s a screenshot to show some of my post type settings: https://allthepics.net/image/jet-engine-cpt.dMX2w

Here’s a link to one of the pages created when I make a podcast. Even when I’m logged in it doesn’t show any media files, yet the RSS feed itself works perfectly: https://theacademyint.com/podcasts/week-6-foundational-theology-mark/

And this is my podcast RSS feed (happy to private message you the credentials if you need): https://theacademyint.com/podcast/2020-online

Is it not working because my CPT slug is ‘Podcasts’? Should I pick something that doesn’t clash with the Powerpress ‘podcast’ slug?

    Hey Ben,

Try “podcasts” all lower case, though that should not matter. When you edit the post type, go to the website tab. How does it show the playlist player shortcode on that page?

    Thanks,
    Angelo

    Hey Angelo,

I tried “podcasts” with lowercase and it’s still not working.
By website tab do you mean the front-end of the CPT?
This is the front-end of one of the post types: https://theacademyint.com/podcasts/week-6-foundational-theology-mark

Up until just before no player would show up. However, with Jet Engine I’ve now added a single page theme to add what displays on each post type. I added [powerpress_playlist channel=”2020-online” post-type=”podcasts”]. Now each post correctly shows the episode on the page for ‘2020-online’ If it’s a different podcast then it doesn’t display correctly. However the playlist shortcode still isn’t working…

    Hello Ben,

Somehow I missed your last reply, did you ever get this working?

    Thanks,

    Hi Angelo,
Unfortunately, I didn’t ever get it working. It’s okay though as it’s not hugely necessary. Most will listen to the podcast through their devices, rather than on the website itself.
