    Hello,

I am running Twenty Twenty with AMP in standard mode and I ran the https://nibbler.silktide.com test. Are the following issues because of the Twenty Twenty theme or should I look somewhere else?

This website does not appear to be associated with a Twitter account.

Some images (6.0%) don’t have defined sizes using width and height attributes in the HTML. These attributes are optional, but strongly recommended as they help the browser arrange the page more quickly.

16 images are being stretched in the browser.

7 links have no text describing their destination. Links on a page should describe their destination for the benefit of both screen readers and search engine spiders.

I have a public Twitter account setup in the Jetpack sharing settings. I also tried to solve the other issues but with no success.

Next to that I am seeing a weird mix of the original Twenty Twenty theme design and my own AMP design with wrong colors and fonts in the customize preview. Is this an issue of the AMP plugin?

Thank you very much for your help!

  • I would try disabling the AMP plugin and then running the test to see what (if anything) changes regarding that test. That test is a bit vague on the specific changes it is wanting.

For Twitter, it sounds like because you don’t have your domain setup in your Twitter profile linking back to the site it throws up the warning.

The image size issues may or may not be affected by AMP as it looks like AMP is adding some extra code in there around the default images.

I’m not quite sure what the test means by the links having text describing their destination. Maybe the alt="" but again, they don’t say specifically. You may want to contact the site and ask them for more specifics on what the results of their test mean.

    Hi Jarret,

Thanks for your help! Disabling the AMP plugin led to the following results:

Most images (91.0%) don’t have defined sizes using width and height attributes in the HTML. (Instead of 6% with AMP)

1 image is being stretched in the browser. (Instead of 16 with AMP)

One link has no text describing its destination. (Instead of 7 with AMP)

This is what Nibbler says about the link text:
Add meaningful anchor text that describes the link’s destination. If the link contains an image, ensure you have provided alt text.

Seems like better results. I wouldn’t be to worried about the image size thing, TwentyTwenty uses the sizes HTML element for responsive images which I’m not sure if this test accounts for or not.

The stretched image is because the content area is wider than what the original image width is set to at 977px

The link with no text makes no sense to me, there are multiple other links on the same page it mentions having no text describing it yet none of those are marked as having issues for some reason even though they contain the same HTML attributes.

    Hi Jarret,
I am using the AMP Plugin in standard mode because I want my site to be AMP first to make it fast and simple.

Do you think I should be concerned about these errors and do you have an idea what I could do about that?

Do you have an idea why I am seeing a weird mix of the original Twenty Twenty theme design and my own AMP design with wrong colors and fonts in the customize preview?

If it was me, I wouldn’t be concerned about the results of that test. There are many different test sites out there that each have their own set of what they think is best for your site.

If you’re asking what I would do, I would be concerned about how Google sees my site assuming you’re trying to get traffic from them. Looking at their performance test for your site:

    https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/

Your site scores very well currently.

Regarding the display issue with AMP in the Customizer, I would bring that up with the plugin author of the plugin that you’re using.

Thanks again Jarret. The Pagespeed insights look good, yes ??
I will contact the AMP developers because of the Customizer issue.
    Have a nice day!

@jarretc can you help me out again and tell me why featured images are not showing up on my start page?

I already figured it out. Somehow the customize settings were reseted.
