-
I am receive the this error:
RSS Error: A feed could not be found at https://www.spreaker.com/show/3381423/episodes/feed. A feed with an invalid mime type may fall victim to this error, or SimplePie was unable to auto-discover it.. Use force_feed() if you are certain this URL is a real feed.
The feed link is correct.
I have checked it on my local installation, and on my hosting with the same error.Feeds from other hostings work: libsyn, simplecast, buzzsprout.

Hi there,
Thanks for trying Podcast Player.
I just checked the feed you mentioned on my test page (https://vedathemes.com/docs-aamla/podcast-testing/).
As can be seen on the test page, it seems to be working well. There might be some server or other problem at spreaker for a short duration. Please clear the cache and check again.
Please inform if still you get the same error. We will try something else.
Thanks,
It work now. But still, its very strange.

I guess perhaps there is something strange in data received from spreaker, because the parser and other plugin’s code has not changed.
Thanks,
Well, I bought pro version yesterday, set up website on local host with player on front page. Yesterday player worked nice and smooth, but today I have same error…
Any solution? Is this the same RSS feed? I am sorry that you are facing such absurd problem, but I still think there is something wrong with the RSS feed xml (at some time it does not send proper xml and at other times it just send normal xml). Let’s try following to see where the problem is,
1. Check again if the podcast player is showing everything correctly or showing the error.
2. If it is showing the error message, try to add WordPress’s default “RSS” widget or block anywhere on your site and enter the feed. Let’s see what it is showing. If WordPress’s RSS widget also shows the same error, there should be something wrong with Spreaker’s RSS feed. If not, please inform me, we will try something else.
On a side note, the podcast feed still showing perfectly on my test page, https://vedathemes.com/docs-aamla/podcast-testing/.
I am also checking again the root cause of this problem. Will let you know if I find anything new.
Thanks,
Hi,
Is this the same RSS feed?
Yes it is.
I have followed your instructions and with the default RSS widget (and my RSS url) I have the same error.
Yes, you might be right that is’s a problem with Spreaker’s RSS because when I used another RSS from Spreaker your plugin and a default rss widget have the same error.
Hope that this info will help to solve the problem.- This reply was modified 4 years, 7 months ago by Arram.
One more hint, when I refreshed website after couple minutes error disappeared, same for plugin and RSS widget.
Hi, as you rightly pointed out that there seems to be some problem with Spreaker’s RSS feed for few minutes. Podcast player can only read and parse whatever feed data it receives from Spreaker website, if it receives wrong data, it can’t process and provide correct results. However, once it receives correct data during any time of the day, it will cache and provide proper results for next 12 hours.
I suggest you also inform about this error to Spreaker customer support. They can check at their end and inform what is the exact issue.
You can send them link to this support thread. Please inform about their response on this.
Thanks,
Hi there,
I have been trying to provide some solution for the above problem.
What is the problem?
podcast player is showing an error message, most likely due to Spreaker does not provide correct feed xml data for a few minutes.Possible solution I am trying
I am modifying display logic in Podcast player to handle such situations.1. Normally, podcast player save podcast feed data for 12 hours to improve performance. After 12 hours, it will check if the podcast is updated (any new episode is added or modified).
2.At this time of checking, if podcast host provide incorrect feed xml (as the case in this ticket), Podcast player will show error message that it has not received correct data.
3. Now, with the new logic, Podcast player will try to display separate results. If the end user is a website admin (like you), it will show error message same as before. However, if the end user is your normal podcast listener, Podcast player will not show error message, but it will just show the last good results it saved.
4. Therefore, in worst case, your user may not see your latest episode (if any for the day) for few minutes until correct feed is received from the podcast host.
I am implementing this new logic and will provide an updated test version by tomorrow for testing. Please check it at your end and inform if it is ok.
Also, as suggested earlier please discuss this issue with spreaker support as well to resolve the root cause of problem.
Thanks,
Thanks Vedathemes. Will it be manual or automatic update?
Hi,
It will be all automatic. However, you can manually override using feed updation tool in WordPress Dashboard > Settings > podcast player.
1. Look for updation tool in right sidebar
2. Enter your feed URL
3. Select “Update only” from drop-down and click “Update Now”Will provide test version today.
Thanks,
Hi there,
As discussed, please find the link to download podcast player test version with previously mentioned modifications.
Note: Only use it on your localhost website to check if it is working correctly.
What to check?
If feed error occur (similar to what we received in this ticket)
1. If you are logged in as admin, you will see error message as before.
2. If you are not logged in, you will see normal podcast player without any error. However, your latest episode may not be visible unless correct feed received from the host. Please have a look at it and inform your findings. I will release it officially along with some other updates in next few days.

Hi @arram,
I hope you are using the test version I provided above. Did you notice any change after using it? Is it working as expected?
Thanks,
I have the same problem and it persists after the last update. My RSS: https://www.spreaker.com/show/4069251/episodes/feed?key=9BnHBHMmRt8r
Hi @operaghostbr ,
Thanks for trying Podcast Player.
As I mentioned in detail the reasons and possible solutions above. I just quickly summarize for you,
1. Most likely there is something unpredictably strange with how spreaker serves the podcast feed xml file. Sometimes it works with WordPress feed system and some other times it just don’t work (Just now, your podcast feed is working perfectly on my system.).
2. To temporarily minimize the effect of this error, I have modified the plugin. In which, If you are already using Podcast player (and got your podcast correctly displayed for the first time). Then If feed error occur (similar to what we received in this ticket)
2a. If you are logged in as admin, you will see error message as before.
2b. If you are not logged in, you will see normal podcast player without any error. However, your latest episode may not be visible unless correct feed received from the host (spreaker).3. I am also looking for a permanent solution to this issue. Hopefully, I will try to resolve it in next update.
4. Please also inform spreaker about this strange behavior and provide link to this ticket. They may also check see what is happening.
Please inform if you need more help on this Or if any other help is required with podcast player.
Thanks,
