• I’ve been having problems with my blog. I just did a fresh install of WP on another server/host, and I noticed there’s an index.php file in the plugins folder. When I looked in the plugins folder of the blog I’m having problems with, there’s no index.php file. Could that be causing the problems? If so, how would I replace that file?

  • Hi skeptic, I don’t know for sure if that would be the cause of your problem. But there is supposed to be a file there, and it wouldn’t hurt to add it!

I’d grab that file from a freshly downloaded copy of WordPress. And in fact, if you are having problems with your blog after an install or upgrade, I’d suggest deleting all the files, aside from your theme and uploads in the wp-content folder, and upload fresh copies of all the WordPress files while you are at it.

Often times when something goes wrong with WordPress right after an install or upgrade, it simply a matter of a corrupt or missing file, so I’d start by trying a reinstall.
