• Hi,

I decided to implement some forum software on my website, but since yesterday morning, after an upgrade to my forum of choice, the software is leaking my login url.

Always into a little bit of extra security, I use a ‘hide my login’ plugin so that wp-admin or wp-login does not work any more.

Since yesterday however, the hide my login info is being leaked by the forum software in that if anyone registers, or wants to reset a password, the user will receive an email containing the full url, hidden login details included, so that if anyone wanted to, they could try to hack the website using the new credentials.

Is there some way that I could use this forum software and not have my hidden login details leaked?

  • From what you described it sounds like your ‘hide my login’ plugin is doing the opposite. Maybe disable it or contact the author of the plugin and/or the forum software you are using.

Well up until yesterday morning, all was fine, all remained hidden.

Looked through a few pieces of documentation for various forums, and all of them show examples of what is received in emails, all of them send url’s with ‘wp-login.php’ in, which in my case exposes the hidden login.

The only way I’ve found so far for it to work, is to not upgrade yesterday’s update, but that’s going against WordPress best practices.
