EBD causes health check problems ?

  • Hi everyone,

    I tried to remove all problems listed on the new “wordpress health check”, and I found out that 2 issues seems to be related to EBD. When I disable the EBD plugin, I don’t have them, and when I re-enable it they come back.

    Here are the 2 error status :
    _ “wp_version_check() is unavailable”
    _ “cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10001 milliseconds with 0 bytes received (http_request_failed)”

    Could you please help me out ?

    I love the EBD plugin and we use it extensively… but why is it causing these 2 “health check” error ??

    That’s weird. I have also the Site health check and plugin v5.1.9, but no errors are reported.

    Where do you see these errors exactly?

    I also have the v5.1.9 of EBD, and the latest WP installation (5.4.1).

    I see these 2 errors in the Site Health Check (xxxx/wp-admin/site-health.php), on these 2 sections (my WP is in French, so here is my translation – maybe inaccurate – of these sections) :
    Section “Critical issues”
    Title : 4.91 The loopback request to your site failed
    Details : “…… error : cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10000 milliseconds with 0 bytes received (http_request_failed) ”

    Section “recommended improvements”
    Title : Background updates not working as expected.
    Details : “…… _ “wp_version_check() is unavailable” ”

    Hi/bonjour,

    Well, I have only the latest WP 5.4.1 in my dev setup on PHP 7.3

    I also do have the curl warning message, but it stays when I disable the EBD plugin.

    I do not have the 2 other recommendations.

    Function wp_version_check() is NOT called by this plugin.

    So I cannot help much. I know that this plugin is not supported anymore, so maybe there are some incompatibilities with latest WP and PHP versions.

    I also have PHP 7.3 on our shared server.

    It is sad that this plugin isn’t updated anymore, it’s pretty useful ??

    Well I can live with there 2 “health” warning messages, so this is what i’m planning to do ??

    Using WP 5.4.1, PHP 7.3, EBD Version 5.1.9.

    When I disable EBD, I have no errors on the “Health Check” page, but when I enable it, I get these errors (sorry, the main text is in spanish because that site is in spanish, but the last line of each error is in english):

    2 errores críticos

    La API REST ha encontrado un error
    Rendimiento
    La API REST es una forma en que WordPress y otras aplicaciones se comunican con el servidor. Un ejemplo es la pantalla del editor de bloques, que se basa en esto para mostrar y guardar tus publicaciones y páginas.

    Error: cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10004 milliseconds with 0 bytes received (http_request_failed)

    Tu sitio no ha podido realizar una solicitud de loopback.
    Rendimiento
    Las solicitudes de loopback se utilizan para ejecutar eventos programados y también los utilizan los editores integrados para temas y plugins para verificar la estabilidad del código.

    La solicitud de loopback a tu sitio ha fallado. Eso quiere decir que las características que dependan de ello no van a funcionar correctamente.
