Hi! I found Sensei LMS in WPML compatibility list. I made a quick test and for a free plugin it looks really promising. Downside is that translation doesn’t really work the way I imagined. Or perhaps I am doing something wrong. Here are some of my quick findings:

    1) Course in another language acts like a different course. If he switches languages he has multiple courses (in different languages) with different progress and etc.

    2) Translated version don’t have any lessons. all lessons and their order have to be added and arranged. If something changes, we have to make these adjustments in every language

    3) Can’t translate Quizzes and questions.

I hope that there is some setting that I am missing and it could just be turned on or off. Or if solving these issues is more complex, then maybe you can help me to solve them?

    Hi there

You’re not missing anything, that’s how WPML works, translations are separate posts, which means they act as separate courses.

You may want to look into something like https://translatepress.com/ or https://weglot.com/ although we haven’t tested those with Sensei LMS, so we can’t provide any guarantees.

    Thanks @drawmyface for your reply!

Technically, we could arrange Course Lessons for each language separately. This is not too much work. At least we could keep information translated and in sync.

But is there a reason why translation of quizzes and questions is turned off? We could unlock them in WPML and translate anyway, but if they are “locked”, I suspect this is by reason. Will unlocking and translating them break anything?

As a side note, I have tested many LMS plugins. Free and paid. Unfortunately did not find so far any that works flawlessly with WPML translations. I have not tried yet another translation plugins, but I think that WMPL is quite popular and who ever makes his LMS fully compatible with them will get a great competitive advantage.

I’m not sure why quizzes would be locked. I’d suggest asking WPML if there’s a good reason for that:
