Hi, I migrated the client’s site from one directory to the root on the same server. When I look at the Optimize Wordfence Firewall popup I see that the location of wordfence-waf.php still includes the old directory. I did run a search and replace on the site but that didn’t help. How can I make sure it pulls it from the correct location? Thank you.

  • Hi @noellesteegs,

Moving the WordPress site from one folder to another may cause issues like the one you’re seeing.

Can you backup your settings using Wordfence -> Tools -> Import / Export, and then reinstall Wordfence on your site? You’ll then have a chance to optimize your site, and the wordfence-waf.php will be installed in the same directory as your site.

I have the same problem. Reinstalling the plugin did not help. Its still pointed to the old location.

I fixed it by changing the location in user.ini

Oh I forgot to mention that you also need to tick Delete tables and data upon deactivation before reinstalling Wordfence.

Your fix should work fine though – glad to hear it works now.

Hi @wfdave, thanks for your message. I exported options, made sure that tables and data would be deleted upon deactivation, deactived and deleted the plugin, reinstalled the plugin and imported my options – but unfortunately the issue was still there.

@alain-lankers thank you for your input. I too managed to resolve the issue by editing .user.ini. I’m curious whether or not this will be overridden after a Wordfence plugin update. @wfdave could you provide clarity on this for me?

    Have a great weekend!
