I’ve had “Use noindex for Tag Archives” set for months but Google is stick spidering up all my tags. As a result I have about 3 times more Google entries than I should.

Is there some other option that might be overriding this?

    Thanks!

@beggers There’s no other option that would override this. Google is supposed to obey the noindex meta tag when they see it and remove that content from their index. I checked and the meta tag is definitely there.

You may want to take a look at this recent article from Google regarding the new Removals report in Google Search Console and their updated guidance on how to remove content from their index (https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6332384).
