    Hi,

I have recently set up a restriction so that only users with the role of Distributor can access a specific page. I have tested this with other roles and it works perfectly, however this is not the case for this specific role.

The Distributor role is a custom role and not a pre-built one by WordPress. Is there any settings I need to apply in order for this to work?

    Thanks,
    Ryan

  • Same problem here. Works well for WP default roles, but not for a custom role created with the Ultimate Member plugin. On the Restriction Editor I can mark the role, but clicking “Update” doesn’t save it.

@ryanworthington – How is your custom role added? We pull the list of roles directly from WP, and we do it as late as possible, that is to say we don’t get the list of roles until its actually time to print them to the browser for our form.

So off the top of my head it would indicate that either:
    1. The roles are not registered early enough,
    2. or the roles are not actually true WP registered roles. I’m not sure about UM specifically, but plugins like BuddyPress and bbPress create non WP roles. That is they have secondary role system on top of WP: https://buddypress.org/support/topic/buddypress-roles/#post-96450

Either way you can manually filter the role list we show using that filter in the function linked above, it will bypass those issues hopefully for you.

    Hoppe that helps.
