Can’t login to site due to hCaptcha & human captcha settings

  • At the wp-login page, it shows the ‘I’m a human’ checkbox but not the hCaptcha. Submitting the form gives this error: ‘Whoops. CAPTCHA was not submitted.
    Warning: Repeated login attempts that fail will result in a complete ban of your IP Address.’

    On the front end, it only shows the ‘Remember me’ checkbox but after submitting the login form it gives the error ‘Please check that box to say you’re human, and not a bot.’

    So basically I can’t login to my site.

    Adding a file called ‘forceOff’ in /plugins/wp-simple-firewall does not work (and I did load a site page first before trying to login).

    Hiding the plugin folder lets me log into the site but un-hiding it logs me out & says I need to login to create a Shield Session.

    So I’m not sure how to proceed, aside from deleting the plugin, deleting its database table, and starting over.

    We’re sorry to hear about the problem you’re having.

    Inconsistencies with display like this are typically caused by caching plugins/systems. Please see our blog post here:

    Page caching is problematic for dynamic sites. So, the first place to start debugging that is to remove page caching and see if this affects the display of the checkbox.

    I had to restore a backup and start over and have not enabled captcha again. This is also a WooCommerce site, which may explain the front end issue. I do have caching on the site, what would you suggest for whitelisting things to be able to use captcha? Or can I get by without captcha and just leave the ‘I’m a human’ checkbox?

    The same problem happens to me, he can only insert the google box and the anti bot on the wp-login page, when my clients try to access the site through the “My Account” page, nothing appears. This is a big failure.

    I was able to work around this problem by using the Developer Mode in Firefox. I noticed that two JS files couldn’t be download from the Security Plugin folder. The files do exist, but the URLs were appended with caching information.
    I used the “Edit & Resend” function of the Firefox Developer tools to strip off the caching arguments from the actual file name. That seemed to have put those files in the browser cache. After reloading the login page then, the “i’m a human” checkbox was displayed again and I was able to login and deactivate this function….
