the linked page describes pages to delete but doesn’t list all of them. i’m doing a gradual update from 4.7.10 to 4.7.12.

    files not mentioned at all:
    – index.php
    – web.config

what should i do with those files?
    update:
    – index.php is basically the same, i replaced.
    – web.config doesn’t exist in newer version; not sure what to do with that.

files it mentions but i don’t have:
    – wp.php

what should i do about that, if anything?

folder mentioned in the upgrade overview (top of page) but not mentioned later:
    – wp-content/cache

    (doesn’t apply to me.)

It’s safe to delete and replace any WordPress file _except_ wp-config.php and everything under /wp-content/

In this case, web.config is not a WordPress file.

You can compare by downloading previous versions from https://www.ads-software.com/download/releases/

With that said, as long as you’re higher than 3.7, it’s safe to update all the way by hitting the update button at Dashboard > Updates in your site’s Dashboard.

I don’t really see anything in there in need of update, it’s all very specific and accurate.
