    Hello, I’d like to add a checkbox to a contact form so users can choose to opt-in to my email list when sending a message. I checked the FAQ and knowledge base and couldn’t find this specific issue addressed.

    Thanks for any help

    It depends what contact form plugin you are using. For any plugin we not already have an integration with you can use https://kb.mc4wp.com/add-sign-checkbox-custom-form/

    Hope that helps. If you have any questions, please let me know!

    Hi @lapzor , thanks so much for your reply. At the moment I am using contact form 7. I saw mc4wp integrates with, so I did that. I have formatted the contact form how I want it, but the click box and the label text are not aligned. Can you help guide me to how to fix that?

    I am designing using elementor, and have placed the contact 7 form widget into a section. Could that be the problem?

    Here is a link to view the page. I added a screenshot of my contact form so you can see the shortcode.

    Thanks again. My apologies for rudimentary questions, I am super new to this

    Also, just to be clear… when the box IS clicked the email will be added to my list, when it is NOT clicked the email will not be added to my list? Just want to be sure I’m not missing steps. Like, the following code for the hidden field

    <input type=”hidden” name=”mc4wp-subscribe” value=”1″ />

    Is that necessary for the click box to work? The wording on the info page makes it sound optional to include, but it seems like it might be necessary?

    Thanks for your time Sirs and Madams

    That is correct, the integration will be triggered by checking the box. If the box is not checked it will not send the email to MailChimp.

    The link you shared is to a draft post. Can you publish the form and share the public link to we can have a look at it?

    Thanks

    I think I figured it out. I had to use the shortcode [mc4wp_checkbox]

    NOT [mc4wp_checkbox “Label text”] (which was the instruction I found here https://www.mc4wp.com/kb/connecting-contact-form-7-and-mailchimp/)

    Also I’m using the plugin HTMega add-ons to style in elementor, that may have had an effect. I played with various settings and checking/unchecking the “add some custom CSS” box and found a combination that centers the checkbox with the text

    Thanks so much for being responsive
