Duplicating Posts Means Automatically Subscribed to New Post

  • Here is an interesting find: When using a plugin such as Duplicate Post to duplicate a post, it also carries over the entire list of subscribers from the original duplicated post and automatically makes all subscribers subscribed to the new post.

    Duplicating a post doesn’t mean it’s the exact same post or even same topic, there are various reasons why one might use a post duplicating plugin, mostly for maintaining a general post structure. Duplicate Post creates a new post ID number, but not sure what Subscribe to Comments Reloaded is using to identify each post and relevant subscriber list.

    By the way, been using Subscribe to Comments Reloaded for many years. Incredible plugin!

    Thanks for pointing that out, just tested and confirmed the issue.

    The subscription info is in post meta and Duplicate Post also duplicates the post meta. Will dig into the Duplicate Post code and see if there’s a filter we can hook into to disable the post meta for the subscriptions being copied.
