Bug with password reset email & WP Mail SMTP

    I have done all the disabling plugins and theme related troubleshooting and narrowed my issue down to an incompatibility with the WP Mail SMTP 2.0.1 plugin.

    This issue seems to ONLY be with password reset emails and is caused by storing the SMTP password inside WP-config.php rather than in plain text inside WP Mail SMTP’s settings page.

    Login with AJAX will only send password reset emails if the password is stored in plain text. Oddly the WordPress core password reset works with WP Mail SMTP with the password stored either way.

    It seems that 3rd party plugins use some sort of slight variation when sending these reset emails that hits a snag?
