• Hi,

Struggling with this a bit and i wondered if anyone had any ideas. I upgraded my blog from wordpress 2.8.5 to wordpress 2.8.6, and now when I go to wp-admin, it’s just throwing me out to the wp-admin/install.php screen… I’ve trying reuploading the files (just to make sure I didn’t miss anything), removing plugins, disabling the .htaccess… Also made sure i hadn’t over written the wp-config.php (which i handn’t) still nothing. Any and all help gratfully received cause I’m kinda at a loss what to try next!

Edit: Also made sure i hadn’t over written the wp-config.php (which i hadn’t), and checked the Db is still there through phpMyAdmin (which it is).

    Thanks,
    Dave

  • Have you tried:

    – switching to the default theme (by renaming your current theme’s folder) to rule out any theme-related problems?

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

yep, disabled the plugin folder and reset the themes… still kicks out to wp-admin/install.php…

    is your options table crashed?

Humm… yeh Whooami, just run a ‘check table’ in phpMyAdmin and it looks like it has.

    gtown_wrdp1.wp_options
    warning
    Table is marked as crashed

It’s showing a few other errors too.

    gtown_wrdp1.wp_options
    warning
1 client is using or hasn’t closed the table properly

    gtown_wrdp1.wp_options
    error
    Size of datafile is: 951856
    Should be: 952028

    gtown_wrdp1.wp_options
    error Corrupt

I’m not overly familiar with MySQL. Is there a way of fixing this?

    FIXED

Just found someone one with a similar problem and they said to use the ‘repair table’ option in phpMyAdmin (kinda obvious, but i didn’t want to risk messing it up even more without checking with someone first!)

Anyway, Thanks all for your replies. ‘repair table’ worked.

now run a repair on it with host’s phpmyadmin

Hi Sam, You mean i need to get the hosting company to repair on it as well?

we cross posted – you ran the repair
