• Hi,

I don’t know if it is true – but from what I’ve learned – the ads with the products with google_product_category may run better as the algorithm recognises precisely what is product. The plugin imports only user created categories in WooCommerce.

Do you plan to include some category mapping for WooCommerce with fields as it may help with the ads?

  • Hey @mateuszz,

Thanks for the question! It’s certainly on our radar for the product team to look into. I’m afraid I haven’t seen it on the roadmap just yet, though we are working on a new release using Facebook’s latest API for better sync control and visibility options, with improved connection first! Once this work has finished, then our product team will review what the next high priority items are.

Certainly, we’d like to see this solved too. As we also get this mentioned in quite a lot of support requests, although it does seem to be only a warning at the moment. Interesting if that is the case with the Google algorithm though!

If we were to implement this feature, how would you like it to work? Should it be possible to set a google_product_category manually as a text input, or would you rather add only the categories that you need for your store first, before applying them to products as a drop-down list maybe?

    Cheers,

    Simon.

    Hi @ixap233,

Thanks for confirming. As mentioned above this isn’t something we have available in the plugin at the moment, though it certainly shouldn’t have an effect on products being displayed in your store. Our product team are aware that this is missing and will need to review it for a potential addition in a future release.

If you had ideas on how you’d like this to work, just like I asked @mateuszz, I’m sure our product team would love to hear it! The more feedback the better!

    Cheers,

    Simon.

    Hi Simon,

    Thanks for answer!

I think the best way to implement would be:

    a) a custom field in category page – where you could set up matching Google Product Category

    b) in the Facebook plugin setting as optional tab:

    – use Google Product Cat for the feed
    – then map/match store categories with the Google Product Cat

This way if users could add the Google Product Cat and this way increase the effectiveness of Facebook ads they will use them more often! ??

    Hey @mateuszz,

That’s such great feedback, thanks so much for sharing!

That sounds like an interesting idea to implement the category mapping too. I’ve recorded this internally so that it’s shared with our product team. They can then review this further down the line once the next plugin release is complete, and they’ve discussed the roadmap with the Facebook team.

Thanks again, and if you have any other questions, please do let me know!

    Cheers,

    Simon.

    Hry @kevajo225,

Thanks for following up here. We don’t yet have this feature implemented in the plugin, though are developers are hard at work with the new major release. This will feature new connection logic, visibility controls, and better sync performance too.

The addition of the google_product_category will require some serious thought on how best to implement it as well as making it most flexible. So we haven’t got a plan for this to be included yet, though it’s certainly on the radar.

I’m not sure if @mateuszz was able to solve this with another plugin in the meantime, though I’ll let her share her experience if she can ??

Thanks again for adding your vote for this feature though! If there’s anything else I can do, don’t hesitate to let me know.

    Cheers,

    Simon.
