    First of all, I tried to create a ticket on your website, but it says:
    “Submitting support request..”, and not moving forward.

    So, back to the problem:

    Checkout plugin: “WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway”
    Product plugin: “Woocommerce Subscriptions”
    Core: “Woocommerce”

    While trying to buy a subscription product, I receive an error after payment:
    “An error occurred while calling the PayPal API.”
    (Payment is not going though)

    It is visible in Woocommerce -> Subscriptions as a “Pending” subscription.

    I asked Paypal:
    Does my account support subscriptions,
    but they said that it does.

    Can you please paste here:

    – the order notes
    – the PayPal log (make sure you remove personal data firs)

    Please note that PayPal Reference Transactions must be enabled: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/subscriptions/faq/paypal-reference-transactions/

    Hey Remi, thanks for the fast answer!

    So, for the PayPal Reference Transactions – Paypal support told me that subscriptions are enabled on my account.

    Moreover, could you please let me know where I can find the order notes and the PayPal log to make sure that I will provide things that you ask for?

    The order notes can be found at WooCommerce > Orders > YOUR PENDING ORDER > Order Notes on the right-hand side.

    As for the logs, these can be found under **WooCommerce > System Status > Logs** (Provided debug logging was enabled for PayPal under **WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > PayPal** at the time the transactiont ook place)

    Oh, there is information “Merchant not enabled for reference transactions”, strange. I will contact Paypal again.

    Thanks for letting us know, @mateusz01238! Yes, while your PayPal account may work with Subscriptions, Reference Transactions being enabled will help to rectify many issues with PayPal Standard and recurring payments.
